We recommend booking 6–12 months ahead, particularly for travel during August and early September. Riverbank lodges in the northern Serengeti and the Maasai Mara are limited in capacity by design – which is what makes them exclusive, but also means they fill quickly. Bush airstrip flights during peak season also have constrained availability.
For October travel, lead times can be slightly shorter, and rates are typically more favorable while crossings remain possible through early in the month.

Wildebeests migrate in a circular route of 500–1,000 miles annually in a never-ending cycle through the Serengeti and Masai Mara ecosystem.
